Accountant is an important part of a team in an organization. Accountant is the person who is responsible for making accounting and financial statements for the companies for a particular time period usually one year. The financial statements include balance sheet, income statement, profit and loss account, statement of cash flow and so on. Responsibilities of accountant vary from organizations to organizations, some of the organizations like multinationals demands great academic record plus some great qualities in person that must a person possess in order to become an accountant but in small business things are bit different. Beside the academic qualifications there is strong need of other qualities which an accountant must possess.
The most important quality which an accountant must possess is honesty and trustworthiness. Accountant is one of the important posts in the business and he is a person who can change the financial picture of the business because he is responsible for making the financial statement. So it is important that the person must be honest in his dealing. He must possess good moral value and must not be involved in cheating and fraud activities.
The other important thing which must be in a good accountant is that he must be a good learner. The art of doing work changes time by time and it is important for an accountant to adapt to the new trend and technology with the passage of time. Discipline is another quality which an accountant must have. The accountant has to prepare different reports of daily basis and a well discipline person should maintain reports with honesty on regular basis which is quite beneficial for the organization.
An accountant has to work with different people at a time and it is important for him to be a team man and must have ability to work with different people for the betterment of the organization. Accountant must be a good speaker as he has to give presentation to different management level. Good dressing is another thing which is must for an accountant. In short having basic qualification is not good enough to be an accountant.
