Conference Aim
The E&PDE conference will bring together representatives from education and industry who have an interest in sharing new perspectives on design education. The conference will provide a forum for educators and researchers from product development, engineering and industrial design, together with industry and government representatives to doscuss current educational issues and the nature of design education in the future. This year's conference theme, 'New Perspectives in Design Education', will provide the opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and build collaborative relationships.
'New Perspectives in Design Education' is intended to reflect the increasing emphasis on design in commerce and in education, and the increasing interactions between engineering and product designers. We encourage varied interpretations of the word 'perspectives' - for example from the point of view of different organisations, disciplines, cultures and communities. Questions that might be explore include: Can we compare design perspectives from different communities? How can educators better reflect industrial perspectives? What is the modern student's perspective on design education? Can we consider our curricula from a future perspective? These questions will be explored in the following conference topics:
